Forrester Wave Evaluates BI on Hadoop
Forrester just released its latest Wave report. Unlike many on more mature technologies, this report on native Hadoop BI platforms included only six vendors, of which Attivio was one. In Forrester's estimation, there are no leaders in the market, just contenders and strong performers.
The report offered some interesting general takeaways, which square with what we're seeing when talking to our customers and prospects. First, and most obvious, native Hadoop BI platforms are an emerging market. And it's a market that's growing quickly as more and more organizations move towards a modern data architecture that includes Hadoop.
Although we believe Hadoop is here to stay, we also think that the modern data architecture will include the enterprise data warehouse for a long time to come. Nevertheless, it's clear that BI and analytics are the key to deriving business value from data. And to do that quickly at scale means being able to operate natively in Hadoop.
Easing the Transition to Hadoop: The Semantic Data Catalog
Most organizations are straddling two worlds when it comes to Big Data. The new world with Hadoop and an assortment of modern data processing frameworks. And the old with enterprise data warehouses and legacy data modeling tools. They need to connect the two.
Attivio's semantic data catalog helps organizations understand their complete data landscape—modern and legacy—through a single pane of glass. We enable Hadoop to form the core of a modern data architecture that encompasses all of an organization's data. The catalog enables data architects to find the balance between data storage and easy access—tiering data by value hot, medium, cold.
