Attivio Adds Financial Services Certification from Hortonworks
As I’ve mentioned in prior blogs, the biggest use cases we see in Hadoop these days come from the risk and compliance functions of large banks. Initially, many banks and other financial services institutions (FSIs) adopted Hadoop out of sheer necessity despite its early immaturity on the governance front. With primary analytic use cases such as Know Your Customer, eCommunications Surveillance, and Anti-Money Laundering, FSIs need analytic solutions that can run at massive scale—the Hadoop sweet spot.
Hortonworks addressed the governance concern with its Atlas governance initiative. Attivio was one of the first products to integrate with Atlas. Now, this latest certification from Hortonworks acknowledges Attivio’s preeminence in developing for FSIs highly flexible and effective solutions based on Hadoop.
With our Semantic Data Catalog, Attivio adds to the Hortonworks environment capabilities with structured and unstructured data and data discovery that deliver significant value for FSIs. With Attivio, the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) can be integrated into the enterprise data supply chain, enriching an FSI’s modern data architecture.
It’s this type of synergy that enabled Hortonworks and Attivio to build an advanced fraud / AML compliance solution for a top ten global bank, which aggregated structured and unstructured information and reduced the average time for case resolution by 75 percent.
As Vamsi Chemitiganti, General Manager, Financial Services at Hortonworks, put it:
"Attivio has demonstrated expertise in meeting the Big Data requirements of financial services customers running Hortonworks. Their data catalog and platform will help our common customers leverage the information stored in Hadoop for their risk and compliance initiatives, while ensuring the right security and governance."
