Tug of war, basketball, Dance Dance Revolution are not usually what we do on a typical Thursday. But last week Attiivians got to be kids for a day and play in the Build Entrepreneur Games - all for a good cause.
The strength of being in the Boston region lies in the tech community that surrounds us. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about a large organization like Rapid7, or the two-person startups that populate programs like MassChallenge, TechStars, and Greentown Labs. That’s why Attivio participates in Boston tech events, and is taking part of the Grow With Google Startup Weekend event coming up on August 10. In fact, our CEO Stephen Baker will be one of the judges, and Attivio will host another event later this year.
On Thursday evening, 10 Attivio employees will be representing the company in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Boston.
More than 9,000 participants will run this year's 3.5-mile race, which starts at the Boston Common, and makes its way down Comm Ave and back. Proceeds from the event benefit the Boston Children's Hospital.
The Attivio race team comprises representatives from across the organization - from marketing to sales, services to development! Our team will be decked out in spiffy new t-shirts.
It’s great to be in tech in Boston. With great schools developing talent and an ecosystem dedicated to supporting tech growth and success, the scene thrives. And nowhere is that more evident than at the annual Boston TechJam, the city’s biggest tech party festival and a time when we all come together to celebrate and accelerate our leading position in tech.
We're excited to share the latest updates and enhancements to the Attivio platform with you today. Version 5.5.1 incorporates updates to existing features (like text extraction) and capabilities in the interest of ongoing improvements. There's a little something for everyone in this release!
SDK Improvements
First, we've updated our SDK to incorporate improvements around testing new modules. You can now run unit tests without requiring an Attivio install to be in place - you can fully test your code before deploying it to the platform.
We’re delighted to announce today that we’ve formed a partnership with MC+A, a Chicago-based search technology innovator and systems integrator.
Not only will MC+A act as a reseller of the Attivio platform, they will assist companies in upgrading from legacy search applications, such as Google Search Appliance (GSA). MC+A’s connector bridge solution simplifies the transition to Attivio’s modern, machine-learning-based platform.
We’re delighted to be working closely with the team over at MC+A and look forward to helping our mutual customers’ employees get the answers they need at the moment they need them.
Attivio joined forces with our partner Persistent Systems to build an app that provides a 360° view of the customer on the Salesforce Service Cloud. Engage 360 unifies information from across distributed data sources, such as similar cases, prior solutions, and internal knowledge bases. With a complete view of their customer information, service organizations realize faster turnaround on customer cases. This video, featuring Sudhir Kulkarni, President of Digital at Persistent Systems, and Lou Jordano, CMO at Attivio, explains the partnership and the new Engage 360 app.
On the occasion of the Engage 360 launch, we had the opportunity to interview Sudhir.

Attivio, a cognitive search platform provider, is pleased to have been recognized recently by Gartner as a “Visionary” in their inaugural report on “Insight Engines.” The report offers this definition for what an Insight Engine actually does:
"Insight engines apply relevancy methods to describe, discover, organize and analyze data. This allows existing or synthesized information to be delivered proactively or interactively, and in the context of digital workers, customers or constituents at timely business moments."
