Flexible, Easily Managed Content and Data Connectivity

Attivio's Active Intelligence Engine® (AIE®) can ingest both structured and semi-structured data, Big Data and unstructured content, from a wide variety of databases, document repositories, content management systems, email systems, websites, social media and file servers, without the need for costly, time consuming extract, transform and load (ETL) processing.

Connectors are an essential part of unified information access. They extract information from repositories - typically including content and/or data, metadata and access control lists (ACLs), normalize it and then deliver it to AIE. Connecting directly to the application has the advantage of retrieving application knowledge along with the data.

AIE connector components provide flexible, reliable and easily managed enterprise information loading. They contain all necessary logic to crawl specific enterprise information source systems and feed AIE data or content for ingestion processing such as data cleansing, normalization and natural language processing and text analysis.

All connectors are managed through AIE's web-based administration, capable of supporting large, distributed IT admin teams who can build, test, schedule and manage large numbers of connectors at the same time.

AIE includes out-of-the-box connectors to relational databases, file content, XML and CSV data. Optional application-specific connectors are available for Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, EMC Documentum Content Server, website harvesting, and Hadoop. Attivio can also deliver connectors to dozens of other content sources upon customer request, including those listed below.

AIE also includes an SDK to build custom connectors in Java. The SDK also enables the real-time streaming of information into AIE through APIs (Java and web service) that support working in enterprise architectures with ESBs or other messaging infrastructure, providing high flexibility to integrate information from existing and future enterprise sources.
