Unified information access allows people to retrieve all types of information using a free-form query, replacing legacy enterprise search, extending BI, and enabling advanced text analytics. We're sometimes asked for examples of projects and challenges that might benefit from a UIA solution, so we've put together a Q&A list on our Blog so you can see if it's the right fit for you. Q: Do you need to replace or extend a data warehouse, data mart or other operational data store and want an approach that does not require a significant investment in up-front design? Q: Is your challenge finding a more automated way to "connect the dots" (for example people, places and things) across disparate pieces and sources of content and data, so you can more effectively discover insights and make decisions? Q: Do you need to apply rules or filters during information discovery so you can trigger events and workflow based on content? Q: Do you need to simplify data integration with a common information hub and create a central dashboard across multiple related applications? Q: Do you want to enhance an application with a 360-degree view of a specific type of information, such as a view of a customer, market, brand, risk, etc.? Q: Do you need a common platform for providing both quantitative and qualitative analytics? Would your application benefit from incorporating analytics and workflow? Q: Do you need to replace legacy enterprise search with a technology that is easier to implement and tune and that includes more sophisticated text analytics? We'd love to hear from our readers on the types of projects and challenges you're facing, feel free to leave us a comment. Would you like to see some more examples and a neutral point of view? A recent article by Barb Mosher in CMS Wire discusses uses for AIE: "Attivio AIE Unifies Structured and Unstructured Information".
