IDC has just named the winners in its "Innovative Information Access Companies Under $100 Million to Watch" evaluation.  Their definition of Information Access comprises the markets for business intelligence, data warehousing, data integration, search and discovery, and content management, including enterprise content management, Web content management (WCM), records management, and digital asset management software.

I'm delighted to report that Attivio is named as one of nine overall winners, and one of just three in the category of "Unified Access/Management to Content and Data".

This is not only strong validation for Attivio, but for our core mission of unified information access as well. UIA was included in this competition because IDC's "Worldwide Information Access, Analysis, and Management Software 2010 Top 10 Predictions" (IDC #221579 published in January), listed it as a notable driver of change.

According to the report, "Scalability, speed, flexibility, quick updating, semantic understanding, categorization, ad hoc access to all information without the need to build new data warehouses, fuzzy search, and de-duping all come from the world of search and text analytics. The data world supplies structured records, fielded searching, precision, numeric operations, sorting, and business intelligence–like reporting and visualizations. Together these capabilities provide a powerful combination of information tools that IDC believes will, over the next decade, largely replace the current separate generations of search and business intelligence."

And from the coverage specifically about Attivio, "Attivio's Active Intelligence Engine (AIE) retrieves and analyzes all types of content and data with search-style queries. Reports and dashboards are configured to present a single, interactive view across the data sources, without having to exit to other applications.  Clustering, faceted navigation alerts, and flexible access rights models make it possible to build search-based applications that address a variety of needs, from information access to business intelligence."

We are greatly honored by this recognition. Thank you!
