Home Resources Newsroom Attivio Announces XT Modules to Complete the Big Data Picture

Monday, July 25, 2011 - Company Release

Attivio, Inc. announced the launch of its AIE XT (Extreme) Modules for big data environments. The modules give customers greater access and contextual insight into the ever-increasing volume and variety of information to help them drive substantive new revenue and competitive advantage. The details of the offering will be highlighted in a TDWI webcast on July 26, featuring Colin White, president and founder of BI Research, and Attivio CTO, Sid Probstein.

Using advanced text analytics like entity extraction, key phrase detection, ontology support and sentiment analysis, the newly announced Recommendation Engine and Classification Engine, Attivio's Active Intelligence Engine™ (AIE) draws vital business signals from unstructured content such as documents, emails, SharePoint, web content, surveys and call logs. AIE's schema-less design easily integrates those signals with a wide variety of big data sources, including Hadoop, HP Vertica, EMC Greenplum, Oracle Exadata, IBM Netezza and more.

"Big data represents a disruptive force during the next five years — enabling levels of insight into customer demands that are currently unachievable through any other means," according to Donald Fienberg, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner. "IT leaders must not focus on the obvious issue of volume alone, but equally consider the other elements of velocity, variety and complexity, which Gartner refers to as the broader category of Extreme Information, as well as the key area of access enablement. If they do focus too narrowly, their enterprises will have to make massive reinvestments within a couple of years to address the other dimensions of big data."

Attivio's AIE XT Modules include:

  • AIE Recommendation Engine — Drives increased online buying and consumption by analyzing behavior to identify items that others who followed a similar path ultimately purchased or read, or to identify relationships based on meta data — genre, author, concepts, people, etc.
  • AIE Classification Engine — Adds intelligence to content by automatically categorizing documents according to pre-built classifications or custom models.
  • Cloudera Connectors Package
  • Individual Hive, HDFS and Hbase Connectors
  • XT Services & Assessment Pack

The TDWI webcast, "Completing the Big Data Picture: Understanding Why and Not Just What" will take place Tuesday, July 26, 2011, 12:00 PM ET. To register, please click here.

AIE is the leading platform for unified information access (UIA), which enables organizations to freely combine, join and present structured data (databases) together with unstructured content (documents, websites, emails, etc.), without restriction, eliminating long-standing silos of enterprise information. AIE supports SQL to populate reports and interactive dashboards, as well as simple keyword search to bring real-time access and analytic capabilities to business users. The end result is a comprehensive view of customers, products, business performance and more, enabling the discovery of business issues and opportunities that might otherwise go undetected.

"To understand why things are trending favorably or unfavorably, it is essential to integrate Big Data with contextual insight from unstructured information from both internal and external sources," stated Ali Riaz, CEO at Attivio. "Attivio's Active Intelligence Engine enables discovery and analysis of all information, from databases to documents, integrated together in a single universal interface."
