Attivio Named to Information Week Startup 50

Tuesday, May 5, 2009, Company Release

Attivio, Inc. announced today that it has been named to the InformationWeek Startup 50, as reported in InformationWeek Magazine and on InformationWeek.com. This prestigious designation recognizes the top 50 business technology startups selected by InformationWeek readers and editors. To qualify for consideration, companies can be no more than five years old and are selected in a three-step process that involves nomination, online voting and editorial vetting.

The technologies and the companies behind them were evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Innovation and their ability to inject new ways of doing things into business processes

  • Value, which is reflected in lower costs, increased sales, higher productivity or improved customer loyalty

  • Enterprise-readiness, meaning that a product or service scales and can be deployed and managed as necessary by IT pros

Attivio's Active Intelligence EngineTM (AIE) is the first Unified Information Access platform to provide a complete view of the relevant information landscape, using information-driven workflow and real-time updates to deliver insight on all types of content, when and where it is needed. With AIE, applications and solutions provide users with precise, structured analytics and conceptual, linguistic exploration in any context, independent of the structure of the underlying data.

"We are honored by this designation as an InformationWeek Startup 50 company," said Ali Riaz, CEO of Attivio. "The past few years we have been able to leverage the Attivio team's collective experience and passion for information access, which has resulted in meaningful innovations for our customers and partners. This recognition further validates the great demand we are finding for a sophisticated unified information access platform that is accessible, efficient, easy to use, and secure. AIE also offers dramatic advantages for rapid prototyping and development, which allow our customers to be more confident in their technology selection process and accelerate their project rollouts."

"It was difficult to limit ourselves to 50 startups because there are a lot of exciting companies out there," said Andrew Conry-Murray, Business Editor, InformationWeek. "That said, we believe the InformationWeek Startup 50 have innovative solutions to critical business problems and are worthy of enterprise consideration."

InformationWeek editors and readers identified young companies that are ready to address the critical challenges facing the enterprise. Whether it is securing networks, cutting costs or streamlining IT operations and business processes, the InformationWeek Startup 50 provides IT professionals and executives insight on new and innovative solutions from the named companies.
