ActiveAIE provides a continuously updated, information-driven workflow
Attivio AIE is more than a powerful platform for indexing and retrieving information. AIE also enables actions - either by alerting users to act or by launching a process within or between programs. The trigger for alerts or automated actions is based on the results of a query or an update to information in the workflow logic you use to ingest data and content. Most legacy enterprise search software can change a query into an alert and let it persist, watching as new content is brought in to the index to see if it satisfies the query conditions. AIE's active capabilities go much further. AIE lets you define an alert or trigger anywhere in a workflow and use any of the bi-directional connectors to ensure the action reaches its target. Examples include:
For these information-driven actions to be most useful, the trigger must occur immediately and within the context of the relevant corporate process — not after the fact when it is too late for any anything other than historical analysis. Many systems that analyze data are architected for a batch environment, so quick response is nearly impossible. AIE is a real-time system with real-time processing, so the latency is minimal, and you get the answer in time to act or respond immediately. Actions are also supported by the free-form, ad-hoc queries users can issue to retrieve all information related to any topic. This capability, which extends to all types of content and data, allows flexibility and the ability for any authorized user to assemble the information they need immediately, without waiting for a report or composing a formal SQL query.
