Activate Your Datawarehouse

Search results from unstructured content such as email, documents and web pages, or query results from structured databases alone always sub-optimize the business process and polarize the information retrieval capabilities of enterprise applications. Unfortunately, even the best corporate information retrieval infrastructures today are “bipolar,” supporting two independent and incompatible technology silos: the “business intelligence/data warehousing” (BI/DW) stack for retrieving information from structured databases and the “search/content management” stack for retrieving information from unstructured content sources. Attivio believes that delivering answers based on all corporate information to the right person or system at the right time drives the shift from finding information to using information and helps companies conduct better business.

BRING IN UNSTRUCTURED CONTENT IN A STRUCTURED FASHION

Attivio AIE can collect and analyze all types of content, pushing the result to a database (such as a data warehouse), much like a traditional ETL tool. Linguistics and NLP techniques are used to extract entities (names, locations, companies, products) and perform advanced analyses such as discovering relationship, link analysis and sentiment analysis.

REAL-TIME

Feeding a DW/DM - most of the information today made available to business intelligence tools resides in transactional database systems. But a wave of new types of content is coming and it doesn’t lend itself to the existing database-centric processes of collecting, aggregating and analyzing information. IT professionals would have to enhance their BI/DW infrastructure in order to fully incorporate all business information as found in databases, emails, office documents, web pages, XML documents and multimedia files.
