Add the "Why" to Your Business Intelligence with AIE SQL and ODBC/JDBC Connectivity

AIE provides unified information access, integrating all related enterprise data and content, in the widest range of user interfaces possible, including business Intelligence (BI) tools.

Unlike other enterprise information solutions, AIE supports popular BI tools such as Tableau, TIBCO Spotfire, Cognos, Jaspersoft etc. with full SQL and ODBC/JDBC connectivity. AIE joins and exposes structured data and unstructured content, enabling the use of BI tools to create new dashboards and visualizations of unified information for brand new business insights.

AIE and BI tools: A powerful combination to complete the business picture

Until Attivio AIE with SQL Support, BI developers never had the ability to incorporate all the unstructured content into their reporting models. Now organizations can connect their BI tools directly to the AIE universal index using the AIE ODBC or JDBC driver, as they would any other data repository, and issue SQL queries and retrieve back all relevant information.

This new mashup of structured data and unstructured content, powered by AIE and leveraging existing BI investments, empowers new business understanding beyond what is possible through analyzing only structured data from data warehouses or other enterprise databases.

Suppose a monthly report sourced from ERP and CRM data shows that revenue declined after the latest release of Product Alpha. Numbers alone, however, can't tell the story why this happened.

With AIE in place, BI developers can connect to AIE universal index containing the ERP and CRM data, plus internal documentation, emails from public folders, information pulled from social networking and news websites and more — for a complete business picture that only unified information access can provide.

AIE SQL, ODBC and JDBC

BI queries directed to AIE for information related to Project Alpha, now reveal not only what happened, but also why:

  • Internal R&D documents that show that Project Alpha was being released with a known bug that customers might not like
  • Emails from sales engineers that say they are hitting this issue in the field during on-site demos
  • Emails from the executive team that OK'd the release, deeming the bug to be non-critical
  • Recent online product reviews and social network comments are decidedly negative, as calculated by AIE sentiment analysis

Best of all, BI analysis of AIE-powered unified information can be performed in real or near-real time, enabling business leaders to identify problems or opportunities as they emerge and take prompt, informed actions.

Without AIE and BI tool support, organizations often find themselves manually correlating structured data analysis with related unstructured content spanning multiple information silos — a long, error-prone process that will, at best, leave business leaders reacting to problems in damage control mode well after the fact.

With AIE, organizations can "Add the why? to their BI" — for new information-driven business agility.
